Summary
Nevada requires any election communication made or paid for by a person, organization, candidate or campaign or party committee that supports or opposes a candidate or party, seeks to influence an election on political or social issues, or solicits contributions, and that includes synthetic media, to state clearly and conspicuously that the image, video or audio 'has been manipulated'. For video the disclosure must appear throughout; for audio it must be spoken at the start, the end and at least every two minutes in longer pieces. Synthetic media means images, audio or video intentionally manipulated with AI or generative techniques to create a realistic but false depiction of a real person. A candidate depicted without the disclosure may seek an injunction or other equitable relief against whoever made or paid for the communication. Streaming, online and broadcast intermediaries, and satire or parody, are excluded from liability.
