Microsoft's Foundry provenance page, last updated October 16, 2026, says it provides Content Credentials (C2PA) and invisible watermarks for supported Foundry models, with support varying by modality, model family and deployment type. Its image list names the Azure OpenAI models gpt-image-1-mini, gpt-image-1.5, gpt-image-2, gpt-image-2.5-flare and gpt-image-2.5-sunburst.
Microsoft's pages differ by portal. Its Foundry (classic) documentation, which applies only to the classic portal, says Content Credentials go on all images from DALL-E and GPT-image-1 series models, issued by Microsoft Corporation. DALL-E 3 and gpt-image-1 are not in the current list, and the current page does not say which signal each listed model carries.

Quoted passage How Microsoft marks AI-generated content in Microsoft Foundry; 1. Content Credentials (C2PA)
Microsoft uses state-of-the-art technologies to provide content provenance for supported Microsoft Foundry models and Microsoft AI systems, including: Content Credentials (C2PA), which attach cryptographically signed metadata to content. Invisible watermarks, which embed provenance signals directly into generated content." "When you generate supported content, Microsoft Foundry can attach cryptographically signed metadata that records information about the content's origin and generation history.

- Invisible watermarkA signal woven into the pixels, frames, audio or wording, meant to survive copying.
Not stated. None of Microsoft's pages listed under Sources read says so.
Microsoft's current Foundry page says supported models carry Content Credentials and invisible watermarks, but does not say which signal each image model carries.
- AI label in metadataA plain metadata field (IPTC Digital Source Type) saying AI made the content. Anyone can add or remove it.
Not stated. None of Microsoft's pages listed under Sources read says so.

Quoted passage Content credentials overview (field table)
The manifest is cryptographically signed by a certificate that traces back to Azure OpenAI. The manifest contains several key pieces of information: Field name Field content "description" This field has a value of "AI Generated Image" for all generated images, attesting to the AI-generated nature of the image. "softwareAgent" This field has a value of "Azure OpenAI DALL-E" or "Azure OpenAI ImageGen" for all images generated by DALL-E series models or GPT-image-1 series models in Azure OpenAI. "when" The timestamp of when the content credentials were created.
