Summary
The Georgia Technology Authority (GTA), acting under its general powers in O.C.G.A. 50-25-4, issued an enterprise policy requiring executive-branch agencies to submit all software, applications, tools and services that use AI for business operations to GTA for review before procurement, and to follow the state's policies and standards when implementing AI. The policy's stated aims are to allow innovative use of AI while limiting misuse, biased or unethical outcomes, inaccuracy, mishandling of sensitive data and security breaches. 'Agency' excludes the judicial and legislative branches, the Department of Defense, departments headed by elected constitutional officers and the University System of Georgia. The policy points to companion responsible-use standards and guidelines; the generative AI standard is recorded separately (state-122).
