Summary
Pennsylvania extended its crime of unlawful dissemination of intimate images to artificially generated sexual depictions: visual depictions that appear to authentically show a person nude or in sexual conduct that did not occur, produced substantially by technical means such as AI or photo-editing software. Disseminating such a depiction is a first-degree misdemeanor where the person depicted is a minor and a second-degree misdemeanor otherwise. The act also brings artificially generated depictions of minors within the child sexual abuse offenses, defines artificial intelligence and generative AI, and replaces the statutory term 'child pornography' with 'child sexual abuse material'. It takes effect 60 days after enactment.
