Summary
Nevada requires the state emergency management plan, and each emergency operations plan adopted by a state or local government agency, to include provisions ensuring that final decisions on emergency response planning and on allocating resources in an emergency are made by a natural person, not by artificial intelligence. It also bars a public utility from deciding whether to reduce or shut down utility service in response to a disaster or emergency based solely on artificial intelligence. AI is defined as a machine-based system that can, for human-defined objectives, make predictions, recommendations or decisions influencing real or virtual environments. The act sets no separate penalty.
