Act on supplementary provisions to the AI Regulation (Lov nr. 467 af 14. maj 2025), implementing the EU AI Act

Summary

Denmark was one of the first EU member states to legislate for the EU AI Act. Act No. 467 of May 14, 2025, designates the Agency for Digital Government, the Danish Data Protection Agency and the Danish Court Administration as national competent authorities, gives the market surveillance authorities inspection powers and sets fines for breaches of the AI Act's prohibitions and related duties. It entered into force on August 2, 2025. Alongside the law, the government's Strategic Approach to Artificial Intelligence sets four initiatives, and the Joint Government Digital Strategy now covers 2026-2029.

2. On 8 May 2025, the Danish Parliament adopted a bill aimed at introducing additional provisions for the regulation of artificial intelligence in Denmark, in accordance with the European Regulation on Artificial Intelligence (EU AI Act).
