Summary

Norway will bring the EU AI Act into its law through a new national act, the KI-loven, once the regulation is incorporated into the EEA Agreement. The government sent a draft act for consultation on June 30, 2025, then aiming for entry into force in late summer 2026. After the EU amended the AI Act through the Digital Omnibus in July 2026, the digitalisation minister said on August 4, 2026, that the draft will go out for a new consultation in autumn 2026, with the aim of presenting it to the Storting in spring 2027; no entry-into-force date has been set. Nkom, the Norwegian Communications Authority, has been named the coordinating supervisory authority.
