Summary

Executive Order 14179, signed on January 23, 2025, and published at 90 FR 8741 (FR Doc. 2025-02172), makes it U.S. policy to sustain and enhance America's global AI dominance. It directed the President's science and technology adviser, the Special Advisor for AI and Crypto and the national security adviser to deliver an AI action plan within 180 days. It ordered a review of actions taken under Executive Order 14110, which EO 14148 had already revoked on January 20, 2025, so that agencies could suspend, revise or rescind those inconsistent with the new policy, and it told OMB to revise memoranda M-24-10 and M-24-18 within 60 days. The order creates no obligations for private entities. The Federal Register's notes cross-reference EO 14365 (December 11, 2025) and record no revocation.
